Wow so I am back home, I can’t say I envy all of you who have been home for weeks now. I think I would be crazy!

In Montgomery there are stupid people spots, you know if you go to wal-mart for example you will run into some stupid people. However if you are in a department store usually you won’t… NOT so in Dothan and Ozark there are stupid people everywhere

More awayness now we are about to go to my dad's girlfriend's house. her 20 year old daughter got engaged last night oh this will be fun.

Fun days

Yesterday was freakin’ COLD! I hate winter! Honestly I don’t know what I would have done if Alton hadn’t came over. Lucky for Spi, cause I sure as heck wasn’t about to go walk him.
Today wasn’t nearly as bad maybe cause the wind wasn’t blowing. I ventured out around 11:00. Picked Cathy up met Dusty for lunch @ Guthrie’s (Cathy had never been there before I want a response if you haven’t either). Our first stop was Camo Country.

It was so funny, there is camo everywhere. Cathy may be more cultured than me, but there are still some things she has never been exposed too. As we were checking out, this lady came through wearing camo from head to toe except for a bright blue purse. Cathy almost lost it right there. “I mean God if you are going to wear all that camo don’t come in here with a cute little purse!”

Then we went to the mall, next year ALL of my Christmas shopping will be done pre-Thanksgiving. I mean it! It was crazy. Oh I almost forgot the trip to TJMaxx. This was also very traumatizing for Cathy. I took a sweater back b/c it shrank when I washed it, seriously my little 5 year old cousin could have worn it. They weren’t supposed to take it back b/c it had clearly been worn and washed, but they did. The clerk put the tickets all back on it right there in front of us. I don’t think Cathy will ever buy clothes from there again.

Last night I baked a ham, made potato salad, and green beans. Alton and Mead came over for dinner. After Mead left, my back started to spasm, thank you fibro. Managed to clean most of the kitchen and Alton did the rest. We started watching a movie and Jamie came over for a while then I fell asleep. Boy my life is exciting huh?

welcome to the real world. . .

. . .by real world i mean waking up at 7 this morning and doing housework and errands all day.
Not a problem unless i get used to it i suppose. I washed some clothes, prepared christmas cards, made lunch, went to the post office, autozone, wal-mart, and the bank, sent in a resume and cover letter, gave spi and peaches a bath, fooled around on the computer, cooked supper, cleaned the kitcken, went to St. James then to starbucks, saw where ricky lives, and came home. exciting times of a college graduate huh. It really is great not having to do anything but clean and submit resumes. I have no stress at all.
This weekend i had two weddings to attend. Good for them glad it's not me! Randy and Kyle had a nice wedding unfortunattly about midnight she had to take him to the ER with a stomache virus. Josh and Jenn had a nice wedding too Jenn's car was destroyed she wasn't a happy girl as you can see by the picture. All in all it was a good weekend

98 hours

That's right 98 hours until my last final exam!
This week has been great! Without a doubt one of the best weeks of my college life. The party was great we hung out here then went to Mike's. My little sister came over from AU so that was exciting too. I can't wait till she moves back. Christmas tree lighting was good not as good as it was with one big tree though.
Friday was fun times I had about 20 bottles of water no reason for that ;) i have stayed up way to late the last few nights I am getting old and am not used to this. Oh well fun times with friends are always worth a little lost sleep. I love my Julie and Haydyn they are the best!!

< 7 days

Ha so that waking up at 5:30 to finish a paper, DIDN"T HAPPEN. I did wake up at 8 then went to class took a test. I think I did ok I got the same answers most other people got so that is a good sign. Finished my paper tried to print my paper and got to class 30 mins late. Dr. B wasn't upset though he said glad you could make it. Chapel was cool today Pres. West spoke and we had communion. Adv. Pres was a bore as usual but it is almost over.
I am having a party t/m night so I thought it would be a good idea to straighten up the house. Made an appointment for Spi to be groomed and fixed supper. Alton came over and ate watched some TV then left. He sent me an IM about broom hockey and after checking everyone's awaymessage realized that was the place to be.
So now here I am back at home wide awake and not feeling the least bit productive. I have less than 158 hours until I am finished with college!! happy days

9 days

I went out to dinner tonight :-D where you ask, Chick-fil-a but it was great! I am still smiling 2 hours later. I have a paper to write but can’t seem to get it done cause I am day dreaming. Oh well I am enjoying these last few days of procrastination before the real world bites me in the butt.
Last night I alumned. It was great! How did I become the emotional one? It used to take a lot to make me cry. Now the thought of where I was 3 years ago and where I am now fills me with emotions. I talked to a good friend last night afterwards that made me happy too.
Life is good!
Friends are great!
And school is almost over!

Only 10 Days Left

Well this week was good. I ate too much, stayed out too late, and spent way too much time with the family. It is great to be back in Montgomery! Friday night Alton and I went out with some of his friends for a few games of pool, it didn’t take us long to remember why we went to college.
Last night I got back early and started working on my Rhetorical Criticism paper. That didn’t last long. Wound up eating leftover roast beef drinking a little and getting very very sick I think it was the roast beef.
This morning I went to Lowes with Alton he finally brought his washer and dryer up here (no more laundry at my house) so he had to get the stuff to hook it up. While there I got in the Christmas spirit and bought a Christmas tree. Alton helped me put it up and I am gonna decorate later tonight after the branches fall.
Tonight I will alum from Sigma Delta. My little sister is coming up and I think some of the girls may come over after to decorate my house for Christmas. It is exciting and sad I can’t believe how fast these years went. I love my sisters!
Right now I am going to work on a speech then who knows what.

Not long now

In two weeks i will take my very last final exam in college! Very happy about this.
I woke up early today only to discover that we were under tornado warnings. Oringinally the plan was to make my house sparkle before I came home. I wanted to go back to a nice clean house before the crazy weeks began. However; when faced with going through bad weather in a trailer or packing in a record time and getting the heck out of there, i opted for the later choice.
I was in Ozark by 8:30am. Yea! all day with the little bro and mother both of them sick with a viral infection :/ if i get sick again i will not be a happy camper.
Momma talked my into riding with them to pick up the deer Michael shot the other day. From there we went to my papa's and picked up the turkey for t/m. My Uncle is having bad back pain so we convinced hime to go to the ER therefore, momma got jackson7 and emily4 (emmie) and later katie9. I love my little cousins but wow are they loud. I had to get out of there.
I went to see Jamie and the baby this afternoon wound up staying till 11pm. Now i am at my daddy's cause at my mommy's house there are four kids all under the age of 12. I love my family don't misunderstand, but i love my nice quiet house with my two pets.
As my Grandmother May said "I love to see you come, but I love watching you leave even more."

Another good day

Got to class late, but it was ok. I did some research for a paper, went to gender and now back home for lunch. I love these last days of being a student breaks and soaps during the day. I love love love it!! Everyone have a safe break I will see you all back Sunday. My little bro got another deer y/d that makes four he has killed in two years of hunting his second doe and two nine points. Impressive. Maybe one day he can be one of those hunters on tv that makes lots of money and gets paid to hunt.
I don't want to go to school

Lots of stuff to catch up on this week. Thursday was AOPie in the face lots of fun.

Friday was exciting had a lunch date at cheeseburger cheeseburger fun times. Later that night I drove up to Tuscaloosa for the Iron bowl. It was so foggy on the way up for the first time ever I was happy to be behind someone driving that way I could tell which way to go. Charlie and I went to IHOP and ate once I got up there. We were going to go find Amy but they were heading home by the time we finished eating.
Saturday we got soaked my hair turned into a gluey mass. The game was exciting at least the first half. I guess you can’t expect too much after so many years on probation. Oh well maybe auburn can pull out the national championship now. I came straight home after the game. As fun as the day was it was still hard for me, mine and Dustin’s first date was to the iron bowl 3 years ago.
On the way home I heard the song from SheDaisy "Still Holding Out For You"
Never thought I'd be in this place / It's someone else's life I'm living / Wish i were living a lie / The hardest part is when the bough breaks / Falling down and then forgiving / You didn't kiss me good-bye / I'm choking on the words I didn't get to say / And pray I get the chance one day

I stil run, I sill swing open the door / I still think, you'll be there like before / Doesn't everybody know to never come around / Some thing's heart won't listen to / I'm still holding out for you

I can hear you smile in the dark / can even feel your breathing / t daylight chases the ghosts / see your coat and I fall apart / those hints of you I'm clinging / Now's when I need them most / I should get up, dry my eyes and move ahead / At least that's what you would have said

I still run, I stil swing open the door
I still think, you'll be there like before

Now yes I know what everyone is going to say, but I simply can’t help it. I miss him so much I have this big gaping hole in my heart. My mom is telling me to move on. Guys are calling left and right but I simply can’t. My heart still hasn’t healed I guess I am holding out hope that he will forgive me. My whole personality has changed this year, all those things that drove him nuts I changed before he met her. And all those things that drove me crazy well, I miss them. Ugh I just wish this would go away

Iron Bowl Week

Well this has been a very long and busy week. I have spent a lot of time working on papers and projects. Is anyone else as excited about this weekend as I am? Let’s see if we can have a repeat of '71
“I know one thing, I'd rather die now than to have died this morning and missed this game.”
The Bear after Bama's win over unbeaten Auburn in '71.

I still haven’t heard from my CT scan but I am still sick. I am ready to feel better this sniffling is not fun. Come out this afternoon to pie me in the face DH from 4-6.

I forgot those were there

So I played volleyball yesterday... I forgot how many muscles it takes to sit, stand, and walk. I remember hating the first days of practice but I forgot why until today.
In other news, I will have a CT Scan t/m so yay for that. On a positive note, I get to miss class.
Oh and my daddy is coming to visit.
Tonight I went to HC and saw Dr. Buckner act gay funniest thing ever! The res life hosted a "who's line is it anyway" skit. Funny funny days! So I am really tired and I am sure none of this is going to make any sense. Good night

Sunday, November 14, 2004

Yesterday started out rough. I woke up still not feeling very well and went to pick up my dress. Apparently the alterations lady thought it would be fun for me to wear a wrinkled up dress. I drove to every cleaners I could find in Prattville then in Montgomery and they were all closed. Finally I went to the Dress shop on Carter Hill, close to ASU, and they pressed it for me.

I had my make-up done and then went to the dorms to get ready. This was the first formal event where I didn’t have Dustin to help me with my hair. After several tries and thanks to Casey and Erin, something came out that resembled nice hair.

Dinner was great Sinclair’s has grown on me and the drinks were good. Alton and I went to dinner with Laura Marie, Joel, two of her friends, and Melissa.

Semi-Formal was at the Commerce Building downtown. It was so pretty. My little came up so we got to spend some time together. About the worst thing that happened was Katharine stepping on my toe in her heels. As soon as I figure out how to post several pictures at once I will but for now here is one of me and Anna.

Friday, November 12, 2004

ugh i hate being sick

This sucks! I have strep throat and my mommy is to busy to come take care of me and my daddy has to work tonight so he can’t either. I feel like crap! I have never had the flu or strep throat, so I have never been overly sympathetic to people who had it. I AM SO SORRY this sucks. Good luck to my girls in Miss HC tonight, guess I will be missing it. But I will not miss semi-formal.

Happy Veteran's Day

There are so many men and women to thank today. It was a great day, nice weather, good classes. Wait I must be thinking of some other day. Today was rainy and cold I had a quiz and I hate Rhetorical Criticism! To top it off, I am getting sick :( well hope everyone else had a good day maybe I will be at school tomorrow if my head hasn’t exploded.

help

I have a boring blog title so i am now taking suggestions for something to replace "My Space"
In my search i found this and thought it was neat.
MELANIE Usage: English, DutchPronounced: MEL-a-neeDerived from Greek melaina meaning "black, dark". This was the name of a Roman saint who gave all her wealth to charity in the 5th century.
try it out http://www.behindthename.com/
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls the countdown has officially begun! 4 weeks from today will be my last college final! I am so excited I can’t stand it. Today started out slow Randi called @7 to get my address for her wedding invitations; I can't believe my little Randi is getting married before me. I went back to sleep, woke up 40mins late, got to class 5mins late to find out it was canceled. This was good news b/c I decided to start reading for my Christian Theology class and I understood the entire chapter on the first try. Leads to my second good news, I contributed to the discussion in class today (that has never happened before). Went to chapel where we sage to great songs and Dean Jones spoke which wasn't as bad as I had anticipated.
Then went to lunch!
At lunch I realized my watch was dead. I went and finished a paper in Wilson immediately after lunch since it was technically due yesterday. Then I went to Harold's (where I worked for the last two years) and got my battery replaced. They joked and said there were 10 back there that I could fix to which I responded with a dirty look. My days of fixing watches are over at least until I open up a jewelry store of my own.
Advanced presentational went quickly today which was good cause some people were having bad days. Julie came out to my house after class to try on some dresses but none of them worked. Then I got to do something I have wanted to do for a while.
I finally got to talk to an old friend about some important issues. I think it went ok I feel much better. I have really decided to focus on my walk with God above all else. So who knows what the future will bring. God knows the desires of my heart and he knows what's best for me so I think I will leave all the important decisions up to Him from now on.

Here is a pic of me and Laura cause she rocks my socks off thanks for helping a sister out!!

Good News

Laura let me study with her this morning before Dr. B's test and I think I did well. His test always scare me. They are getting easier though, to bad I only have one left. . . NOT well now back to cleaning, who knew buying more clothes would equal more laundry :-/

I have a test tomorrow why am I awake

This weekend was good I went home Saturday after the game. I got to see Anna Brooke (cousin on my dad’s side) and she helped me get ready for the fair. She is going to school to be a cosmetologist so she did my hair all cute and stuff. I was the third wheel though so that was no fun and I didn’t see many people that I knew. I did get a corn dog from the corn dog man and a roasted ear of sweet corn um um good :)
I thought I was gonna get to see my little brother and my mom this morning but we miss communicated and she thought I went home early. So I talked to my daddy about my budget for next year I have discovered that my base cost of living is $10,000 that is just bills. So that is a tad bit scary but I have faith that I will find a good job.
I got back to Montgomery about 3 and went to the Big/Little reveal at the Shakespeare festival then to the ΣΦΕ/ΚΣ go SIG EP!! The night was topped off with voting in ΑΟΠ which went well and it only took 1.5 hours so yay. Now off to bed so I can get up early in the morning to study for a Christian Theology test t/m that is more than likely going to kick my butt.
Good night all

I love my friends

It’s been a three month roller coaster ride for me. I have good days I have ok days but thank God I really never have “bad” days. I have the most amazing friends in the world and I thank God for each and every one of you.
I have discovered that I love a lot more than I thought. What this means now or in the future is anyone’s guess. For now I have to trust in God’s plan for my life. I have to reach a point where it isn’t about me or anyone else it is all about God. I think I am slowly coming back around to that. Everything in life has a season and a purpose.
Though I stick by my decisions, I still question them. I have to learn not to judge myself so critically, and to accept what my reality is. Cause in the end everything works out and we are stronger people for it. Without trials you never realize what you have, and you never get any stronger. This is true for people, relationships, and many other things.
I am heading to HC’s last home football game of this season. After that I am going to Dothan for the P-Nut Festival!! I love this time of year. Even though things are different now I still remember how they were.
Good night beautiful. It was wonderful with you by my side. When I close my eyes I remember your face, and all of those good morning beautiful days.

Thursday, November 04, 2004

*Sigh*

I hate roller coasters! You're up, then you're down then you're spinning around in a circle, and all while going really really fast. Nope give me a nice train ride through the plains please. When is it ok to look like an idiot? To reveal all you pains to another. When does what we think we want coincide with what we have? There has got to be at some point in life a happy spot not a temporary one but a real life long happiness.

Let's see how this picture thing works

AOTT bid day @ HC

Me & Anna

What a day

Today started out good. Library Research methods was boring as usual but I think I made future classes lives better. We had to watch a video today on using the internet for research . . . can we say 6th grade level. So I, being the senior and favorite in the class, felt it necessary to inform Mrs. Smith of how elementary it was and the assignment she had for us to do today would be completely useless. SCORE out of class early and no homework! Met Lauren for a Gender and Society assignment and went to eat at Dirks. I still like Southern Pleasures better but it was closer to where I needed to be so whatever.
Now for the fun part of the day. . . I arrived at the polls at 12:50 took the oath signed in and got comfy. A few hours later I went to the bathroom and got locked in, long story and I really don’t think I can explain it in words. Just note that the highlight of my day was getting locked in a scary middle school locker/bathroom. Sat for a few more hours, closed the polls, and called headquarters Bush 872 Kerry 3?? And one of the other guys had one vote.
I went to Embassy Suites downtown to watch the numbers come in. At first I thought I would stay long enough to see some of the people who invited me to show my appreciation, but then I met some students who all go to Vaughn Forest Church. I wound up staying from 8-12 it was great times. I might visit out there soon. Went over to Alton’s after leaving and remembered I have to take spy to the vet in the morning for his surgery :( so I came home.
Please say a prayer for him tomorrow that the surgery goes well.
Good Night God Bless
~Melanie

Yay for Cathy

Exciting times! I finally have something to do when I should be working. I missed class this morning honestly I just skipped it. I woke up and thought about going but quickly decided against it. I had big plans to vacuum and do laundry this morning but there was a nasty wreck up the road and there was no power. So I filled out my absentee ballot instead and had a sandwich. I did make it to Advanced Presentational Speaking today and we had a quiz. Boy I am glad I didn’t miss that : /
I went to the mall to exchange a skirt unfortunately I didn’t have my receipt so I only got $12 of the $19 toward my new purchase. I waited for Cathy and we shopped some more I bought two new shirts. I went crazy this summer on clothes unfortunately they were all summer clothes so now I have nothing to wear when it does get cold.
I did something tonight that I have never done before. I auditioned for a play! We will see how that turns out either way it was an experience. Went to Alton’s for dinner afterwards and had BLTs yum. When I got home I took Spy for a walk. It is going to suck when it does get cold.
Well that is all for tonight.
